On the 16th August 2023, whilst on patrol in the Kharwastan area, Pro Secure Armed Response Officers & Specialised Response Unit came across a black male pulling a cardboard box with plastic bottles.
This suspicious activity led to the Officers approached hing the suspect, and they started to search the box.
Whilst searching, the officers found a huge quantity of burnt copper cables.
Pro Secure Senior Management and the Chairman of the Kharwastan CPF Mr. Prakash, together with patrollers, was called to the scene.
After interviewing the suspect, he pointed out a location in 27th Avenue, Umhlatuzana, where the rest of the cables were hidden in a dense bush.
Bayview SAPS was called to the scene, and the suspect has been arrested.
